If you have a professional house cleaner coming to your house for the first time, one thing that may cross your mind is: Do you stay home or do you go out when they come? There isn't an easy answer, but here's something you should know to make the most educated decision for you.

1. It's Totally Your Call
Most professional cleaners are comfortable working in your absence or presence. Some homeowners prefer to stay and watch, but others prefer to go out and get back home to a clean house. Either is okay—just be clear about your expectations beforehand.
2. If You Stay…
Allow the cleaner to do their work undisturbed. Your presence can be distracting.
Secure pets and leave areas to be cleaned open.
Have a plan for where you'll be (e.g., home office, backyard, one room).
3. If You Leave…
Make it easy to enter: Leave a key, garage code, or instructions for entry. Many clients utilize lockboxes or smart locks.
Clarify expectations: Clearly state what needs to be done first, issue areas, and special requests.
Leave contact info: In the event something does come up, the cleaner should be able to reach you easily.
4. Trust Is Key
No matter where you live or where you're headed, employing a professional, insured cleaning service is the epitome of reassurance. Background-checked personnel and positive client communication are huge rewards when it comes to establishing trust.
5. Our Recommendation
For return or scheduled cleanings, most of our clients prefer to leave or get on with their day. For new bookings, it is standard to stay for a quick walkthrough or be present for a few minutes at the start or end of the visit.
Bottom Line: You don't have to remain if you don't want to. A professional cleaning firm will accommodate your preference—whether you're working from home, running errands, or enjoying some well-deserved R&R.
